Humane Drug Policy

The War on Drugs has been one of the most spectacular policy failures of modern human history. If we are serious about addressing the root causes of addiction, our leaders must abandon this failed, punitive model in favor of scientific best practices.

1. Decriminalization

Federally decriminalize the use of all drugs.

2. Public Health Emergencies

Treat opioid/meth addiction as public health emergencies. Carceral solutions to addiction make the problem worse; addiction is a disease that requires treatment.

3. Hold Them Accountable

Hold pharmaceutical executives accountable for their role in over-producing and over-selling opioid painkillers while minimizing the risks of opioid addiction/overdose.

4. Release & Expunge

Release and expunge the records of all individuals incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses like simple possession.
